HOPE AND GLORY
ROLE: Project Director of Hope and Glory Beijing.
Film co-ordinator and project reconciliation for Hope & Glory Hong Kong
HOPE & GLORY was conceived by the award winning artist Simon Birch. The inaugural exhibition transformed a 20,000 square foot warehouse space in Hong Kong into a gigantic labyrinth of 14 linked installations, representing an abstract adventure, a journey that relates to heroic mythologies, history, the human experience and the success and failures of civilisation. The viewer was led through a journey that interplays visual and auditory installations including sculpture, live performance, film, painting and photography, including contributions and collaborations from Hong Kong and overseas artists. This journey followed, metaphorically, the structure of the ‘hero myth’, the story of triumph over adversity as told throughout history, from Homer’s Odyssey to Star Wars, from Jesus Christ to The Wizard of Oz. For HOPE & GLORY Beijing, Birch reimagined his circus within the multiple galleries of the
G-Dot Art Space.
